The GMC Yukon SL for 2006: Improving on 2005

There have been several award-winning trucks from GMC over the years, including the GMC Yukon of 2006. There are three trim levels to the Yukon, including SLE and SLT. The SL version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2005 the popular 5.3 liter Vortec has made this a popular choice for sport utility buyers nationwide.
2006 GMC Yukon SL Specs
The restyled Yukon SL is equipped with a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2005 version.
The Yukon uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and coil springs front and rear respectively.
The fuel system for the 2006 Yukon is a SFI system, running on FLEX . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

In 2005 and 2006 the Yukon SL was availble in the exterior colors of Blue-Green Crystal, Carbon Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, Onyx Black, Sand Beige Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, Sport Red Metallic, and Summit White. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.
What We Think of the GMC Yukon
There are several reasons why the GMC Yukon SL sold well in 2006. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a GMC, specifically a Yukon.

There’s no doubt that GMC is up to it’s old tricks with the Yukon? I’m hoping next year’s example is improved.
