GMC Sierra 2500 Engine Specs: The Sierra 2500 Base comes outfitted with a Vortec 6.0 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is teamed up with a Hydra-Matic 4-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for GMC.

The 2002 Sierra 2500’s normal fuel system runs on bi-fuel. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection (MFI) style of design. The fuel tank holds 12 gallons.

The Sierra 2500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The Sierra 2500 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to long-distance. Being a bi-fuel-powered green truck, this was subpar.

In 2001 and 2002 the Sierra 2500 Base was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

The standard warranty period for the Sierra 2500 is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the cab & chassis market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

Considering all factors the 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 Base was a rowsing. GMC responded to critisims about the 2001 Sierra 2500 and made drastic changes. The result is better than the sum of its parts. Look for more from GMC along these lines in the future.
