GMC Sierra 2500 Engine Specs

The restyled Sierra 2500 SLE is equipped with a 6.0-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a Hydra-Matic four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2001 version.

The fuel system for the 2002 Sierra 2500 is a traditional SFI, running on BI-FUEL fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 12 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The Sierra 2500 comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

What We Think of the GMC Sierra 2500

The 2001 model began the promise of the GMC Sierra 2500. The 2002 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers GMC hopes that the Sierra 2500 SLE will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

    I’m in the market for a cab & chassis next year when my lease is up. Should I buy one of these GMCs or hold out for next year’s Sierra 2500?
