Shoppers who buy a GMC Sierra 1500 are often happy with purchase. For over a decade, the Sierra 1500 has been one of the leaders of the GMC brand. This has always been a meaningful truck, and the 2005 model is no different. A extended cab pickup for everyone in the household is what the GMC Sierra 1500 delivers.

Performance

GMC Sierra 1500 Engine Specs: The Sierra 1500 SLT comes outfitted with a Vortec 5.3 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is teamed up with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for GMC.

The Sierra 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The truck uses torsion bar and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

Fuel is handled for the Sierra 1500 is a SFI design, running on FLEX fuel. The FLEX is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 34.00 gallons.

The Sierra 1500 is 249.00 inches long, 78.50 inches wide, and 70.80 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 157.50 inches. It is able to seat 6 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Sierra 1500 is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the extended cab pickup market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $28,405 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $24,854. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Extended Cab Pickup.

Fuel Efficiency

The Sierra 1500 SLT received a miles-per-gallon rating of 15 - 16 in-city driving and 19 - 21 when it came to long-distance. Being a flex-powered hybrid truck, this was subpar.

In 2004 and 2005 the Sierra 1500 SLT was availble in the exterior colors of Carbon Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, Fire Red, Onyx Black, Polo Green Metallic, Sand Beige Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, and Summit White. Additional options were made available by the factory.

In Summary

Considering all factors the 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT was a rowsing. GMC responded to critisims about the 2004 Sierra 1500 and made drastic changes. The result is better than the sum of its parts. Look for more from GMC along these lines in the future.
