Last Year’s Crew Cab Pickup: The 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT

There have been several award-winning trucks from GMC over the years, including the GMC Sierra 1500 of 2008. There are four trim levels to the Sierra 1500, including SL, SLE, SLT, and WT. The SLT version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2007 the popular 5.3 liter Vortec has made this a popular choice for crew cab pickup buyers nationwide.
Under the Hood
The restyled Sierra 1500 SLT is equipped with a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Vortec engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2007 version.
The Sierra 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

What We Think of the GMC Sierra 1500
In summation the 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT was a great success. GMC responded to critisims about the 2007 Sierra 1500 and made sweeping changes. The result is a great truck and even better crew cab pickup. Let’s hope the GMC Sierra 1500 for 2008 is a sign of the future.
