There’s been a lot of talk about the GMC Sierra 1500 for 2006. As a leading truck in the extended cab pickup market the Sierra 1500 (and in this case specically the Hybrid version) has maintained a good reputation. The 4-door Sierra 1500 is especially appealing to broad audience, making it a perfect truck to help GMC as a brand in general.
GMC Sierra 1500 Engine Specs
GMC Sierra 1500 Engine Specs: The Sierra 1500 Hybrid comes outfitted with a Vortec 5.3 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is mated to a four-speed transmission by General Motors. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for GMC.
The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Sierra 1500 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and leaf in the rear.
The fuel system for the 2006 Sierra 1500 is a SFI system, running on ELECTRIC/GAS . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The 26.00-gallon tank provides the fuel storage for longer trips.

MPG Ratings
The 2006 Sierra 1500 gets 21 miles/gallon on the highway and only 16 in the city. This is subpar for a extended cab pickup truck.
In 2006 the Sierra 1500 Hybrid was availble in the exterior colors of Deep Blue Metallic, Fire Red, Onyx Black, Polo Green Metallic, Sand Beige Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, Sport Red Metallic, Stealth Gray Metallic, Steel Gray Metallic, and Summit White. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.

In summation the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 Hybrid was a great success. GMC responded to critisims about the 2005 Sierra 1500 and made dramatic changes. The result is a great truck and even better extended cab pickup. I’m sure GMC has more in store in the future.
