GMC Sierra 1500 Engine Specs: The Sierra 1500 HT comes outfitted with a Vortec 5.3 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by General Motors, is teamed up with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for GMC.

The fuel system for the 2002 Sierra 1500 is a traditional SFI, running on FLEX fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 34.00 gallons.

The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the standard cab pickup market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

Fuel Efficiency

The Sierra 1500 HT received an fuel efficiency rating of 15 MPG driving in the city and 19 - 20 when it came to distance driving. The flex-powered Sierra 1500 is a hybrid truck.

Considering all factors the 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 HT was a rowsing. GMC responded to critisims about the 2001 Sierra 1500 and made drastic changes. The result is better than the sum of its parts. Look for more from GMC along these lines in the future.
