February 18th, 2009

Honda Civic

Honda has been blessed with many award-winning designs, including the Honda Civic of 2005. There are eight trim levels to the Civic, including Si, GX, LX, HX, EX, DX, Hybrid, and Value Package. The Hybrid version is one of the more popular options. Like in 2004 the popular 1.3 liter VTEC has made this a popular choice for sedan buyers around the world.

Engine Performance

Honda Civic Engine Specs: The Civic Hybrid comes outfitted with a VTEC 1.3 liter, 4-cylinder motor that uses 8 valves. The engine, manufactured by Honda, is teamed up with a Honda 5-speed transaxle. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Honda.

The Civic uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Civic Hybrid Statistics

The Civic is 175.40 inches long, 66.70 inches wide, and 55.10 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 103.10 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $13,910 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $12,719. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2005 Civic is a PGM-FI design, running on ELECTRIC/GAS fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 13.20 gallons.

The Civic Hybrid received an fuel efficiency rating of 32 MPG driving in the city and 38 when it came to distance driving. The electric/gas-powered Civic is a hybrid car.

In Summary

There are several reasons why the Honda Civic Hybrid sold well in 2005. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Honda, specifically a Civic.
